Apprentice of the Year – Parks & Gardens

Winner

TLA Member: Regal Innovations
Winner: Sajeev Perera

Christopher is a talented, enthusiastic and dedicated employee who displays outstanding qualities and undertakes all aspects of his employment in a professional manner well beyond the expectation of a 2nd year Apprentice.  After commencing his apprenticeship in August of 2020, his hard work, passion, level of knowledge and attention to detail has become more than apparent through the work he has produced.  Christopher’s commitment and drive is demonstrated daily. He is undertaking 2 areas of study simultaneously, having also undertaken the Landscape Construction course, whilst also handling the pressures of his work commitments with great success. He is currently managing the maintenance of 5 stages of an ACT development project, installing very large street trees in an existing prestigious suburb.  Personally, Christopher is a dream to work with. He is motivated and helpful to other staff receiving positive feedback from his supervisor, clients and colleagues. The TLA and the judges are delighted to see such wonderful new passion and skill entering the industry and we are very proud to present this prestigious award to such a worthy recipient. Congratulations Christopher.

Apprentice of the Year – Landscape Construction

Winner

TLA Member: Urban Grounds and Gardens
Winner: Campbell Wood

Campbell Woods is a very worthy recipient of the Apprentice of the Year for Landscape Construction. His commitment to the industry is obvious and he is a very valuable asset to his employer, Urban Grounds and Gardens.  Previously in landscaping maintenance, Campbell commenced TAFE in July 2022 where he undertook a fast-track program and completed within two years, gaining excellent results in Plant ID and paving. Within a year of his apprenticeship he was promoted to leading hand and has worked on a variety of residential and commercial projects, for example, he designed the plant set out for the Parramatta Light Rail project. He leads by example with a very high level of workmanship and values the input of all members of his team. Now as a junior foreman he is described as highly committed, motivated, reliable, passionate, dedicated and an exceptional tradesman, with his employer stating he has never experienced anyone of his calibre.  Campbell is shaping up to be an exceptional tradesperson and will have a great future in this amazing industry. Congratulations, Campbell!
